The novelist doesn’t write about people in a vacuum; he writes about people in a world where something is obviously lacking, where there is the general mystery of incompleteness and the particular tragedy of our own times to be demonstrated, and the novelist tries to give you, within the form of the book, the total experience of human nature at any time.

If I Didn’t Care - Amy Adams and Lee Pace <—download link
If I didn’t care more than words can say
If I didn’t care would I feel this way?
If this isn’t love then why do I thrill?
And what makes my head go ‘round and ‘round
While my heart stands still?
If I didn’t care would it be the same?
Would my ev’ry prayer begin and end with just your name?
And would I be sure that this is love beyond compare?
Would all this be true if I didn’t care for you?
If I didn’t care would it be the same?
Would my ev’ry prayer begin and end with just your name?
And would I be sure that this is love beyond compare?
Would all this be true if I didn’t care for you?

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out
You’ll make me work, so we can work to work it out
And I promise you, kid, that I’ll give so much more than I get
I just haven’t met you yet

Song of my heart these days. Except maybe I’ve already met him…

Head under water
And they tell me to breathe easy for a while
The breathing gets harder, even I know that
Made room for me but it’s too soon to see
If I’m happy in your hands.

Let the Flames Begin - Paramore <—download link
Somewhere weakness is our strength,
And I’ll die searching for it.
I can’t let myself regret such selfishness.
My pain and all the trouble caused,
No matter how long
I believe that there’s hope
Buried beneath it all and
Hiding beneath it all, and
Growing beneath it all, and…

I’m writing a paper for Biochemistry right now. It’s an 8-12 page paper about a current topic in Biochem, very narrow & based on journal articles we can find related to our topic in the past 3 years. As such, it’s supposed to be a very technical type of paper.
Well, here’s a snippet of my introduction:
Imagine the following scene. Someone is tasked with the following challenge: Take 46 skeins of yarn and compress them tight enough to rest on the head of a pin, making sure to devise a system for preferentially choosing and using certain parts of certain strands of yarn whenever needed. This seems to be a herculean task; however, this same type of feat is accomplished extremely efficiently within every cell in the human body.
Yep, just more of the already plentiful proof that I’m a teacher, not a scientist.

So, I’m posting this a few days late, but I’m trying real hard to keep current! :) I’ve just recently decided to start keeping an observations journal, requiring myself to make at least one entry per day. The observations can range from the grand to the mundane:
Oh yeah, and I bought some baby chickens. :-O
